공급자 하나님 God our Provider

공급자 하나님 God our Provider 마태복음 17장에 예수님과 베드로의 성전세에 관한 대화가 나온다. 베드로가 성전세 납부에 대한 질문을 관계자로부터 받았는데 예수께서 알고 세금 납부를 하게 하신다. 왕의 아들이 왕에게 세금을 내지 않듯이 하나님의 아들이 아버지 집에 세금 낼 것이 없지만 세금을 내지 않으면 그것으로 책잡히고 많은 사람의 의혹을 받을 것이다.. 하나님의 아들이라도 일반 사람으로 오셨기에 세상에 사는 동안은 사람의 제도를 따르는 것이다. 하늘과 땅의 모든 것을 가진 분이 세금 낼 돈이 없다. 베드로에게 하나님이 공급하시는 것을 보여주시는 기회로 삼고자 그에게 바다로 가서 낚시하여 처음 잡히는 고기의 입을 열면 두 사람의 셋돈이 나올 것이라 하신다. 다른 방법이 있겠지만 어부로 고기 잡기에 익숙한 베드로의 기술을 사용하게 하신다. 세금은 저절로 생긴 돈이 아니라 자신이 노력하여 얻은 것으로 내게 하신다. 하나님의 백성이지만 일반 시민의 의무와 책임을 수행한다 성전세는 일반 세금과 달리 가이사의 글과 상이 있는 데나리온이 아니라 유대인이 통용하는 세겔로 하기에 고기를 잡아 입을 열면 한 세겔이 있을 것이고 그것으로 베드로와 예수님의 세금을 내라고 하신다. 예수께서 세상 모든 것을 다스리고 공급하시는 것을 보여주신다. 많은 바다 고기 가운데 세겔을 물고 있는 고기가 얼마나 될까? 그 고기가 돈을 삼킬 수도 있고 내 뱉을 수도 있지만 이미 주께서 그 고기를 준비하여 잡히도록 하신 것이다. 우리의 머리털 하나라도 해아리는 하나님께서 직접 다스리고 공급하시는 것이다. 겨울 내내 추위에 앙상한 가지만 있던 나무에 잎이 나오고 꽃이 피는 것은 자연의 이치라 하지만 실제로 누가 계획하고 시행하는 일인가? 현대 과학이나 인공지능이 할 수 있는 일인가? 내가 나의 몸과 매일의 삶에 놀란다. 몸을 움직이는 것만 아니라 배고픔을 느끼고 음식을 먹으며 맛을 알고 그것이 위장으로 내려가 소화되고 배설되는 과정을 내가 하는 것이 없다.심장이 뛰고 5장6부가 일을 하는 것은 내가 주장하는 것이 아니라 주께서 다스리고 공급하는 힘으로 된다. 밤 잠자리에 들 때 다음 날 아침에 일어난다는 보장과 확신이 있는가? 경제적인 것도 마찬가지다. 나의 삶을 돌아보면 나의 필요를 알고 때마다 채워 주신다. 학교에 장학금이 있는 것도 내가 열심히 공부하고 그 후에 기여하라는 것이다. 우리 몸의 모든 기능을 원만하게 하는 것도 건강한 활동으로 기여하며 주의 은혜를 찬송하고 섬기게 하심이다. 나의 생명과 필요를 채워 주시는 경로는 물고기나 어느 사람이나 기관이라도 모든 것의 근원과 실행의 힘은 오직 공급자 하나님에게서 온다. 이번 이란 전쟁에 참가하던 비행기가 방공망에 걸려 바위산에 떨어졌다. 조종사는 탈출하였지만 뒷자리에 탑승한 대령 장교는 떨어지고 이란군인은 그들을 잡고자 한다. 미국 특수부대가 이들을 교란하며 장교의 구출작전을 수행하는 동안 트럼프대통령은 다른 일을 제쳐두고 상황실에서 작전이 완수될 때까지 지켜보았다. 미국은 한 사람도 뒤에 남기지 않는다는 원칙아래 그를 지 보호하고 정보를 제공하며 구출하는 과정을 보며 미국 군인만 아니라 미국 시민인 것을 자랑스럽게 생각한다. 한 나라가 자기 국민을 그렇게 지킨다면 하나님은 자기 사람을 얼마나 더 지키며 모든 것을 공급하겠는가! 하나님의 자녀로 그의 보호를 받으며 평생토록 모든 것을 공급받은 것은 나만 아니라 그의 모든 자녀가 누리는 특권이기에 자랑스럽고 주께 감사하며 찬양한다. God Our Provider In Matthew 17, there is a conversation between Jesus and Peter concerning the temple tax. Peter is asked by the collectors whether Jesus pays the temple tax, and Jesus, knowing what had happened, instructs him to pay it. Just as a king’s son does not pay taxes to his own father, the Son of God should not have to pay tax in His Father’s house. Yet if He did not pay, it would become a cause for accusation and raise suspicion among many people. Although He was the Son of God, He came into the world as an ordinary man, and while living in this world He followed human institutions. The One who possesses heaven and earth had no money with which to pay the tax. Jesus used this as an opportunity to show Peter how God provides. He told him to go to the sea and cast in a line. When he opened the mouth of the first fish he caught, he would find enough money to pay the tax for both of them. There may have been other ways, but Jesus chose to use Peter’s own skill, since he was a fisherman familiar with catching fish. The tax was not to be paid with money that appeared by itself, but with something gained through Peter’s own effort. Though God’s people, we still fulfill the duties and responsibilities of ordinary citizens. The temple tax was different from ordinary taxes. It was not paid with a denarius bearing Caesar’s image and inscription, but with the shekel used among the Jews. Therefore Jesus said that when Peter caught the fish and opened its mouth, he would find one shekel there, enough to pay the tax for both Peter and Jesus. In this, Jesus showed that He rules over and provides all things in the world. Among the countless fish in the sea, how many could there be with a shekel in their mouths? That fish might have swallowed the coin or spit it out, but the Lord had already prepared that fish so that it would be caught. God, who numbers even the hairs on our heads, personally rules over and provides for us. Throughout the winter, a tree may stand with nothing but bare branches in the cold. Then leaves appear and flowers bloom. We say that this is simply the order of nature, but who actually plans and carries it out? Can modern science or artificial intelligence accomplish such a thing? I am amazed at my own body and my daily life. I do not make myself feel hunger, eat food, taste it, send it down to my stomach, digest it, and eliminate it. I do none of these things. My heart beats, and all the organs of my body carry out their work, not because I command them, but because the Lord rules and provides the power for them. When you lie down to sleep at night, do you have any guarantee or certainty that you will rise the next morning? The same is true economically. When I look back on my life, I see that God knew my needs and supplied them at the right time. The scholarships available at school are there so that I may study diligently and later contribute to others. The proper functioning of every part of our body is also meant so that we may live actively, serve others, praise the grace of the Lord, and minister in His name. The channel through which my life and needs are supplied may be a fish, a person, or an institution, but the true source and power behind everything come only from God our Provider. During the recent war with Iran, an aircraft participating in the conflict was hit by air defenses and crashed into a rocky mountain. The pilot escaped, but the colonel sitting in the rear seat fell behind, and Iranian soldiers tried to capture them. While American special forces distracted the enemy and carried out the rescue mission, President Trump set aside everything else and remained in the situation room until the operation was completed. Seeing how the United States, under the principle of leaving no one behind, protected him, provided intelligence, and carried out the rescue made me proud not only of American soldiers but also of being an American citizen. If a nation protects its citizens in such a way, how much more will God protect His own people and provide all things for them? To be a child of God, protected by Him and supplied with all things throughout life, is a privilege enjoyed not only by me but by all His children. For this I am proud, grateful to the Lord, and offer Him praise.
