지혜자의 삶 The Life of the Wise 잠언은 지혜의 왕 솔로몬이 사람들에게 지혜로운 삶을 살도록 훈계한 31장으로 오늘 우리가 매달 하루에 한 장씩 읽고 따르며 지혜롭게 살도록 하는 교훈을 받는다. 잠언 13장은 지혜가 우리에게 어떤 도움을 주는가를 말한다. 대신 지혜와 대조되는 말은 미련한 것이라 그의 삶은 어떠하다는 것을 대비시킨다. 지혜자는 훈계와 경계를 받아들인다. 부모와 스승의 가르침이 되지만 무엇보다 성경에 나타난 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 따르며 순종하는 자다. 솔로몬이 왕이 되어 기도할 때 하나님은 그에게 무엇이나 원하는 대로 구하라고 하자 솔로몬은 백성을 바르게 다스리는 지혜를 구하였다. 하나님은 기뻐하시며 그에게 지혜만 아니라 부귀와 영화를 더하여 주셨다. 아무리 부귀가 많아도 지혜가 없으면 그것을 누리지 못할 것이다. 지혜로운 자는 존영을 얻지만 미련한 자는 가난과 수치를 당한다고 말한다. 지혜로운 자는 소원을 이루게 되고 마음에 기쁨과 감사가 있지만 미련한 자는 자기가 행하던 악을 벗어나지 못한다. 지혜로운 자는 자신만 아니라 자기와 함께 하는 자에게 지혜를 나누고 삶의 유익을 준다. 부모는 삶의 경험을 통하여 얻은 지혜가 있기에 자녀는 그와 함께 지나며 말이 아니라 삶을 통하여 배운다. 내가 부모님을 통하여 배운 것을 근면하게 일하시는 것, 정직하게 살며 어려운 자나 구하는 자에게 항상 후하게 도움을 주는 것이다. 그러면서 일찍 라디오와 신문을 통하여 세계와 소통하고 삶에 적용하며 이웃과 나누는 것이다. 부모님은 이웃과 아는 사람들에게 인정과 존중을 받고 그들이 어떤 일이 있을 때 문의와 도움의 요청을 받았다. 나는 부모님을 존중하며 그들의 삶을 배우고 이어가기를 힘쓰고 있다. 가장 값진 것은 영생에 이르는 믿음이다. 할머니께서 받아들인 복음의 믿음과 할머니를 위하여 동리에 교회 설립과 건축을 이행하셨고 할머니는 가셨으나 그 교회를 통하여 많은 사람이 예수를 믿고 삶이 변화되어 세상에 기여하는 것을 본다는 것이 얼마나 감사하고 축복의 일인가! 나도 이 복음을 맡은 사람이 되어 평생을 지나며 아무런 후회 없이 감사함으로 지금에 이르러 할머니와 부모님께 감사하며 신실하여 복의 근원이신 하나님을 찬양한다. The Life of the Wise The Book of Proverbs consists of 31 chapters in which Solomon, the king known for his wisdom, instructs people to live wisely. Even today, we can read one chapter each day of the month and receive instruction on how to live a wise life by putting its teachings into practice. Proverbs 13 tells us how wisdom benefits our lives. In contrast to wisdom is foolishness, and the chapter shows the difference between the life of a wise person and that of a fool. A wise person accepts instruction and correction. Such instruction may come from parents and teachers, but above all, a wise person listens to the Word of God revealed in Scripture, follows it, and obeys it. When Solomon became king and prayed to God, God told him to ask for whatever he desired. Solomon asked for wisdom so that he might govern God's people rightly. God was pleased with his request and gave him not only wisdom but also wealth and honor. No matter how much wealth a person may possess, without wisdom he will not truly be able to enjoy it. The Bible tells us that the wise receive honor, while the foolish experience poverty and shame. The wise are able to see their desires fulfilled, and their hearts are filled with joy and gratitude. The foolish, however, remain trapped in the evil ways they have chosen. A wise person does not keep wisdom only for himself but shares it with those around him, bringing benefit to their lives as well. Parents possess wisdom gained through their experiences in life, and their children learn by walking alongside them—not merely through their words, but through the example of their lives. From my parents, I learned the value of working diligently, living honestly, and always being generous in helping those who were in need or who came seeking assistance. They also sought to understand the world and communicate with it through the radio and newspapers from an early age, applying what they learned to their own lives and sharing it with their neighbors. My parents were respected and trusted by their neighbors and acquaintances. Whenever someone faced a problem or needed advice or help, they would come to my parents. I have respected my parents, sought to learn from their lives, and tried to carry on the good things I learned from them. Yet the most precious thing they passed on to me was the faith that leads to eternal life. My grandmother received the gospel and embraced the faith in Jesus Christ. For her sake, a church was established and built in her village. Although my grandmother has gone to be with the Lord, how grateful and blessed I am to see that through that church many people have come to believe in Jesus Christ, have had their lives transformed, and have gone on to contribute to the world. I, too, have been entrusted with this gospel. Having carried it throughout my life, I have arrived at this point with gratitude and without regret. Today, I give thanks to my grandmother and my parents for the faith and wisdom they passed on to me. And above all, I remain faithful and praise God, the source of every blessing.
