말과 관계 형성 ords and Building Relationships 아침에 일어나 하나님께 감사기도를 하고 내가 말하기 보다 하나님의 말씀을 듣고자 하여 기다리며 오늘의 말씀을 읽고 하나님의 음성을 들으며 나에게 하시는 말씀이 무엇인가를 묵상한다. 그는 지혜와 사랑으로 지금까지 나를 인도하셨기에 그가 말씀으로 때로는 현실로 나를 만나시기에 말씀을 듣고자 성경 말씀을 듣는다. 9월14일에 말라기를 끝내고 마태복음을 시작하여 어제 28일에 계시록을 끝내고 창세기에 들어갔다. 저시력이라 눈으로 읽기가 불편하여 듣는 것이 중요하여 걸을 때만 아니라 시간이 있을 때마다 말씀 듣기를 선호한다. 하나님은 말씀하시는 분이시다. 말씀으로 천지를 창조하시고 말씀하시는 대로 모든 것이 형성되었다. 그의 말씀은 하나도 땅에 떨어지지 않고 다 이루어지는 힘이 있기에 그 말씀을 듣고 받으면 그대로 된다. 직접 말씀하시고 선지자를 통하여 말씀하실 때 그대로 된다. 엘리야는 내 말이 아니면 비와 이슬이 내리지 않으리라 하더니 3년ㅅ개월동안 비와 이슬이 내리지 않았다. 예수께서 잔치에 참여하였는데 포두주가 떨어지자 어머니가 알려 주셨다. 주께서 항아리에 물을 채우고 그것을 뜨다가 연회장에게 주라고 하여 그대로 하였더니 참으로 훌륭한 포도주가 되어 있었다. 전도서 5정운 말씀을 듣는 것이 제물을 드리는 것보다 낫다고 한다. 말이 많으면 실수가 많고 어리석은 말을 하게 된다. 사무엘은 순종이 제사보다 낫고 듣는 것이 수양의 기름보다 낫다고 한다. 말을 하는 것보다 듣는 것이 저 낫다는 말씀이다. 우리가 말을 할 때는 누군가 상대가 있지만 보이지 않으나 항상 듣는 자가 있다. 하늘에 계신 하나님이 땅에서 우리가 말하는 모든 것을 들으신다. 지난 날의 말은 자랑이나 후회가 많고 앞날은 꿈이나 계획이지만 내가 내일을 좌우할 수 있는 것이 아니다. 통신이 발달하여 지금 온 세계가 연결되어 있고 또 무엇이나 듣고자 하면 도청장치가 있어 골방에서 하는 말도 모두 녹음되고 알려지기에 숨길 것이 없어진다. 세상에서도 그렇다면 하늘에 계신 하나님 앞에 숨길 것이 없다. 왕 앞에서 함부로 말을 할 수 없다면 만왕의 왕이신 하나님 앞에서 내 말과 행동을 항상 살펴야 할 것이다. 하나님이 말씀하면 이루시는 것처럼 하나님은 사람이 말을 내면 그 말을 실천하기를 기대하신다. 어떤 서원이나 약속을 하면 그것을 이행해야 신실한 사람이 된다. 말을 하고 행하지 않는다면 차라리 약속하지 않는 것이 더 낫다고 한다. 약속할 때는 매우 좋아 보이는데 이행하지 않으면 누가 그를 믿을 수 있을까? 내가 막내 딸에게 공부 잘하여 반에서 일등을 하면 자전거를 사 주겠다 하였는데 그는 공부를 잘 하고 아빠가 약속한 것을 이행하기를 기다렸지만 내가 자전거를 사 주지 않는다. 그가 나에게 말을 하였을 때 나는 약속했다는 사실을 잊고 있었다는 것을 깨닫고 참으로 부끄러웠다. 하나님은 약속하신 바를 잊지 않으신다. 네가 어디로 가든지 나가 너와 함께 하리라 어린 나에게 말씀하신 하나님은 지금도 신실하게 나와 함께 하시니 그는 믿을만한 분이고 이로서 나는 주를 찬양하며 자랑한다. 만나면 말을 하고 말로 관계를 이어가는 삶 속에서 하나님의 자녀로 서로가 신뢰하고 사랑하며 기쁨과 감사의 매일을 살면서 동시에 하나님과 더욱 친밀한 사랑의 관계를 지속하고 싶다. Words and Building Relationships When I get up in the morning, I first give thanks to God in prayer. Rather than speaking, I want to listen to what God has to say, so I wait before Him, read the Word for the day, listen for His voice, and meditate on what He is saying to me. He has guided me until now with wisdom and love, meeting me sometimes through His Word and sometimes through the circumstances of my life. Therefore, I listen to the Bible because I want to hear His voice. On September 14, I finished the book of Malachi and began the Gospel of Matthew. Yesterday, on September 28, I finished Revelation and began Genesis. Because I have low vision, reading with my eyes is difficult, so listening is especially important to me. I prefer listening to God's Word not only while I am walking but also whenever I have time. God is the One who speaks. He created the heavens and the earth by His Word, and everything was formed according to what He said. Not one of His words falls to the ground without being fulfilled. His Word has the power to accomplish what He declares. When we hear and receive His Word, it becomes reality. Whether God speaks directly or speaks through His prophets, His Word is fulfilled. Elijah declared that there would be neither rain nor dew except at his word, and for three years and six months there was neither rain nor dew. Jesus attended a wedding feast, and when the wine ran out, His mother told Him about it. Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water and then draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. They did exactly as He said, and the water had become excellent wine. Ecclesiastes 5 teaches that listening to God's Word is better than offering sacrifices. When there are too many words, there are many mistakes, and foolish words are easily spoken. Samuel also said that obedience is better than sacrifice and that listening is better than the fat of rams. The message is clear: listening is better than speaking. Whenever we speak, there is someone to whom we are speaking. Although we may not see that person, there is always someone listening. God in heaven hears everything we say here on earth. When we look back at our past words, there are many things of which we are proud, but also many things we regret. As for the future, we have dreams and plans, but we cannot control what tomorrow will bring. Communication technology has developed so much that the whole world is now connected. If someone wants to hear what is being said, there are devices that can record even conversations spoken in a private room. There is increasingly little that can be hidden. If this is true even in this world, how much more is there nothing that can be hidden from God in heaven? If we cannot speak carelessly in the presence of an earthly king, how much more carefully should we examine our words and actions before God, the King of kings? Just as God fulfills what He says, He expects people to act upon what they say. When we make a vow or a promise, we must keep it if we are to be faithful people. It is said that if we are not going to keep our word, it is better not to make a promise at all. When someone makes a promise, it may sound very good at the time, but if the promise is not kept, how can anyone trust that person? I once told my youngest daughter that if she studied hard and came in first in her class, I would buy her a bicycle. She worked hard and did well in school, and she waited for her father to keep his promise. But I did not buy her the bicycle. When she reminded me of what I had said, I realized that I had completely forgotten that I had made the promise. I was truly ashamed. God, however, never forgets His promises. He said to me when I was young, “Wherever you go, I will be with you.” Even now, He faithfully remains with me. He is trustworthy, and for this I praise Him and boast in the Lord. Whenever we meet, we speak with one another, and through our words we continue to build and maintain our relationships. I want to live each day as a child of God, trusting and loving one another, and experiencing joy and gratitude. At the same time, I want to continue growing in an ever-deeper and more intimate relationship of love with God.
